Liverpool v Fulham: As Andy Robertson returns and some players missing

Andy Robertson is expected to return to the matchday squad when Liverpool plays Fulham in the Carabao Cup, although Jürgen Klopp will be without nine players from the team.

Despite missing ten players due to injuries or international duty, Jürgen Klopp’s team has been put to the test recently, and they have managed to win games.

The timetable doesn’t appear to be slowing down, even though some of the absentees will soon be available again.

Naturally, tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Fulham is the top focus,

as a trip to Wembley is within reach after a 2-1 victory at Anfield in the opening game.

The most intriguing team announcement prior to the match is that Andy Robertson might be able to feature.

Assistant manager Pep Lijnders stated on the club’s official website that “it’s now 13 weeks,

he had his meeting with the surgeon to make sure that everything is right to go into full contact—it’s clear,” and that “he will travel.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai feel the game is coming too soon,

although Lijnders hinted they might be prepared for Sunday’s FA Cup match against Norwich.

The Reds will continue to wait for several names on the injury list even though it may be becoming shorter.

It is hoped that Kostas Tsimikas will not lag behind Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, and Szoboszlai,

and that Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajčetić will be able to resume training next month.

After having surgery for a knee injury, Ben Doak appears to be sidelined for a lengthy amount of time,

and Joël Matip’s season is probably done.

The fact that Mohamed Salah will soon be joining them in the treatment room is somewhat concerning.

Obviously, the Reds wouldn’t have had the Egyptian for tonight’s match because Wataru Endō and Salah were both absent due to international commitments at the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations, respectively.

The former, however, is scheduled to return to Liverpool for medical attention after suffering an injury last week against Ghana;

preliminary indications indicate he may miss up to a month of action.

Klopp will be hoping he has enough strength available to make it to Wembley even if he still has nine players out for tonight’s match.
