In recent games, liverpool has seen a slew of young players step up. Even jürgen klopp may have been surprised at how seamlessly they’ve integrated.
Liverpool’s young talents are the best thing you can say about them is that they never seem out of place at the moment. Jarell quansah, for example, has been demonstrating this all season, but others have followed suit. In the last few weeks, conor bradley joined quansah, and then many more.
Bobby clark made his premier league debut against nottingham forest, and jayden danns and lewis koumas made a big splash this week. Quansah, bradley, and clark all seem to be players who will be part of the liverpool squad under the new manager next season. In all competitions, the three seem to be able to become semi-regulars. Danns has, however, shown plenty of promise.
As a teenager, coming into the liverpool squad as a forward is the hardest part of the field. It is easy for someone minor to be mocked by experienced defenders or lost in a sea of bodies.
And yet danns hasn’t given us much of a hint that it might be the case in the next week or so. Danns was able to use his body to shield possession and link things together, as shown by his challenge on nottingham forest goalkeeper matz sels, who rightly earned him a ticket.
Danns was also able to cope with pressures mentally, and he was also able to score two excellent goals in the fifa cup match against southampton midweek. Although he didn’t score at forest, liverpool’s success was depended on him as they chased the breakthrough that darwin nez eventually found deep into stoppage time.
Jürgen klopp has another option open to him. Danns can be a factor in the europa league last-16 clash with sparta prague, or even in a starting spot.
Although clark has just made his first league appearance for liverpool, he should also be looking for european minutes. Quansah is a shoo-in, and bradley would be too if he weren’t needed against manchester city next weekend.
Danns, on the other hand, had only made his u21 debut a few weeks before. The last week or so may have come as a surprise to the player. No one expected it, but it could also be a huge liverpool boost.
All three young talents have now demonstrated that they are able to step in when liverpool needs them. In a season where liverpool could have another 21 games, that could be vital.
