Arsenal has been advised to seek a January transfer window deal for an English player valued at £60 million, despite the current pursuit of a new striker
In the most recent transfer rumors surrounding Arsenal, talkSPORT analysts have mentioned Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton as a possible target should the Gunners fail to sign Brentford’s Ivan Toney during the January transfer window.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Alan Brazil emphasized Calvert-Lewin’s goal-scoring prowess and highlighted him as a potential choice.
He questioned whether Everton would be open to losing the English forward, particularly in light of the controversy surrounding his recent red card.
Co-host Ally McCoist, however, expressed skepticism over the prospect, pointing out that Everton would probably be hesitant to move Calvert-Lewin considering his importance to the squad and the possible response from supporters.
Although McCoist expressed misgivings about the possibility of obtaining Everton’s Calvert-Lewin, given his injury history and the probability that Everton would not let him go, Brazil views the striker as a prolific goal scorer.
Brazil stated: “I was just going to talk about Calvert-Lewin. He was given a red card, which is understandable because it was a joke. And I was just wondering whether Everton would trade Calvert-Lewin if they couldn’t sign the lad from Brentford and Ivan. Or are they only concerned about the injuries he has?
The conversation shows the continuous disagreement among football analysts and supporters on Arsenal’s need for a consistent goal scorer and possible transfer market choices.
Even though Calvert-Lewin is a skilled goal scorer, questions about his fitness and Everton’s desire to let him go in January are still important considerations.
Ivan Toney has subsequently been designated as a priority by Arsenal, but as we previously revealed, the forward intends to be with the Bees at least for the foreseeable future.
But any new deal would have a release clause, which would give the Gunners optimism for a potential future trade for Toney.
That won’t assist Arsenal for the time being, since Mikel Arteta believes that a new striker is essential this month.
Alan Brazil stated, “He’d finish, I think he’d score a lot of goals,” indicating his confidence that the 26-year-old will help Arsenal’s goal-scoring issues.
