The remarkable performance of Liverpool Academy’s very own “Polish Messi” in the EFL Championship has made prospective suitors sit up and take note.
Leeds United and Birmingham City will compete to recruit a young player from Liverpool who has been likened to Lionel Messi.
As Mateusz Musialowski, a Polish prospect, is making an impression for the Reds’ minor squads,
EFL Championship sides are showing interest in signing him in January.
The four years that the Poland U-21s international has spent developing on Merseyside after moving from his
own country have seen him establish a reputation as a dependable asset in the final third.
Musialowski’s contract is slated to expire in the summer, therefore a number of potential suitors may see him to be a wise investment.
The Daily Mail claims that Birmingham City, owned by Tom Brady, is one of the teams that is now expressing the greatest interest in signing him.
This is because Tony Mowbray has been named head coach. Leeds United,
meanwhile, is reportedly monitoring his availability, according to Football Insider.
Earlier in the season, Musialowski’s consistency has improved, and the Merseysiders’ academy coach Barry Lewtas was full of praise for the teenager.
“He’s been brilliant,” he said. There is no doubt that his level of consistency has increased this season.
He now commits to every aspect of the game and assumes greater accountability for his overall performance.
In his third year in the junior system, Musialowski has impressed this season,
contributing six goals and two assists in 11 appearances for the Reds’ U-23 squad.
The 20-year-old has participated in 80 games across the club’s pyramid, scoring 30 goals and dishing out six assists.
