Following the postponement of their Wild Card game due to a winter storm, the Buffalo Bills will play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday at 9.30 p.m. With one to three feet of snow predicted, watch the build-up live on Sky Sports NFL starting at 9 p.m.
Due to the severe winter weather, Sunday’s NFL Wild Card playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers has been moved to Monday night, according to a statement made by New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Saturday.
“I’ve been in communication with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend,” Hochul stated on Twitter/X.
“In consultation with our emergency response teams, Buffalo Bills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed to 4.30pm Monday.”
The Bills posted a request for volunteers to shovel snow at Highmark Stadium on their club website on Friday. They offered $20 per hour in exchange for volunteers’ assistance, free food, and breaks during their shifts.
The game, which was supposed to start on Sunday at 6 p.m. (UK time), will now start on Monday at 9.30 p.m., with live coverage beginning at 9 p.m. on Sky Sports NFL.
Hochul also announced that there will be a travel ban in Erie Country, which is included in the Buffalo area under a storm warning.
AccuWeather predicts one to three feet of snowfall in Buffalo along with wind gusts that might reach 65 mph.
“The decision to move the game to Monday was made in consultation with New York Governor Kathy Hochul in the best interest of public safety, and with the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the region prepares for the storm,” the Buffalo Bills stated in a statement.
Weather caused two major disruptions to Buffalo’s 2022 season: first, a storm forced the team’s November game against the Cleveland Browns to be moved to Detroit; then, on Christmas Eve, a blizzard caused their travel from Chicago to be delayed.
The Bills, led by Sean McDermott, come into the contest on a five-game winning streak that allowed them to overcome the Miami Dolphins and turn around their season to earn the No. 2 spot in the AFC and the AFC East division.
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to meet the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium, the topic of weather has been recurring throughout Super Wild Card weekend.
Monday’s game for Buffalo will come before the final six Wild Card games, starting at 1.15 a.m. on Tuesday, when the Philadelphia Eagles play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
